Read my story!

Scout knows how to make the most of both playtime and downtime. Bring out the toys and she’s ready for action, but when nothing exciting is happening, she’s perfectly capable of settling in and entertaining herself. She loves being part of the family without needing someone beside her every minute.

This Beagle/Shepherd mix for adoption would be a great match for someone who enjoys walking or running, a family with kids ready to toss toys, or a home with space where she can stretch her legs and play. She has an active, curious side and would love people who will give her opportunities to use it.

Scout also fits comfortably into a normal working household. She can handle a full workday while her people are away and will be ready to reconnect when everyone comes home. Another dog could be a fun playmate and she would happily share her home with one, but she doesn’t depend on a canine sibling to feel secure or content.

There’s an independent streak underneath all that affection, too. Scout may wander off to investigate something interesting or take up her favorite post by the front door to supervise the neighborhood, but she always circles back to her people.

If you’re hoping to adopt a rescue dog who can enjoy an active family life without requiring constant attention, Scout offers a particularly nice balance of playfulness, independence, and affection.

Scout is available for adoption throughout Texas through Addicus’ Legacy Dog Rescue. With fosters across the region and an Austin-area hub, we welcome adopters from across the Lone Star State. HOW TO APPLY

Please fill out an adoption application and be sure to completely fill in all fields, as our volunteer adoption coordinators will only follow up on completed applications.

Our coordinators will follow up on all the vet and personal references that you provide and then reach out to you to schedule an interview. It may take a few days as we are 100% volunteer based and our wonderful coordinators also have jobs and families. Please be patient and know that we will be in touch!

Our interviews are typically around 30 minutes in length. We will talk about your home, yard, current and past pets, kids, your schedule and what kind of dog you are looking for. If we feel the dog you applied for is not a good fit, we will suggest a different dog for you to consider.
