Adopt a Rescue Dog in Austin, TX
Addicus' Legacy Dog Rescue is rooted in Central Texas. We rescue dogs from high-kill shelters throughout Texas and Mexico, placing every dog with a loving foster family while they wait for their forever home. Our Austin-area adoption center means Texas adopters can meet dogs locally, skip the transport process entirely, and take their new family member home sooner. If you're searching for a rescue dog for adoption in Austin or anywhere in Central Texas, you're in the right place.
Why Adopt a Rescue Dog?
Every dog at Addicus' Legacy comes with a detailed foster report — a real account of how the dog behaves at home, on a leash, around kids, and with other animals. Because our dogs live in homes, not kennels, you're getting a genuine picture of who they are. Rescue dogs are grateful, adaptable, and ready to love. Many are already house trained, leash trained, and settled into a routine. You're not starting from scratch — you're giving a dog a second chapter.
How Transport Works
Our Central Texas adoption center serves Austin and the surrounding Hill Country region. Adopters in the Austin metro area, San Antonio corridor, and surrounding communities are welcome to arrange a local meet-and-greet with their match. For adopters in other parts of Texas, we also run regular transport routes. Contact us to find the option closest to you.
